Preschool is a place for growing, learning, curiosity, discovery and fun - all in a safe and loving environment!
Our preschool seeks to promote the social, spiritual, cognitive, emotional and physical growth of each child. Additionally, our program has been designed to develop the types of skills that would be expected of a child by the time he or she enters kindergarten. Warm and nurturing teachers work with each child to foster a life- long love of learning. Because young children learn best through play and hands-on activities, we provide a setting rich with a variety of materials and resources. Each class day will incorporate teacher-directed, group learning, including music, stories, art and projects. All learning activities focus on weekly themes, encouraging freedom of expression and creativity within a structured environment. Free play time allows children opportunities to engage in social relationships and allows for individuality, enthusiasm, and imagination. We believe that each child is an individual gifted by God with his or her own special interests and abilities. We have designed our classes to enable the children to develop these God-given skills. Our desire is to see the children grow in their understanding of how they are loved and valued by God, developing a relationship with Jesus Christ. The principles of God's Word are interwoven through each theme every day. Our Fours and Fives meet bi-monthly for chapel. We provide a safe place for children to feel loved and accepted and to develop confidence through hands-on activities, which provide self-expression, meaningful choices, and develop responsibility. Respect for self and others is integrated into the daily curriculum as well as the opportunity to serve others and community. This is an exciting time and we invite you to consider sharing these early years with John Knox Community Preschool.
